Susan Hobbs has been incorporated since 1992. The gallery was opened in February 1993 at its present street-level location on Tecumseth Street. The gallery represents the following artists: Ian Carr-Harris; Magdalen Celestino; Robin Collyer; Didier Courbot; Brian Groombridge; Scott Lyall; Arnaud Maggs; Liz Magor; Sandra Meigs; Colette Whiten; Robert Wiens; and Shirley Wiitasalo and Kevin Yates. This diverse group of artists all work in different media; a distinctive combination of sculpture, installation, photography, painting, video, and drawing. Gallery artists have been included in many important exhibitions at international venues since opening, such as the Venice Biennale; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; Kunsthalle Bern; The Power Plant, Toronto; Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal; musée d'art contemporain Lyon; Ydessa Hendeles Art Foundation; la Biennale de Montréal; Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Seattle Art Museum; Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, amongst others. Numerous publications and monographs are available on all gallery artists. The gallery has participated in art forum, Berlin and The Armory Show, New York repeatedly.
